Our Children
Our Lord speaks about Children a great deal in the Gospels indeed he attatches a great deal of importance to them.
In 1996 a Childrens Charity called B.B.C Children In Need released a song with the title of " When Children ruled The World " The song was performed by some local children, The lyrics for this song to me speak more volumes to me about the responsibility that our Children in our world have today, There job as young people in our world today, To preach the Holy Scriptures. With the same meaning as Our Lord taught us as as children so long ago. We therefore have a duty to teach our children from day one " The Gospel Of Our Lord Jesus Christ as he taught us in our schools and churches through our parents again so many years ago. The lyrics of this song speak clearly and I quote " Doves and Kings and shepherds and Wise men Came together and followed the star they all gathered down in the manger They came from so very far." This of cause relates the story of Our saviours birth 2000 years ago, The song goes to describe the inocence of our from birth untill they get to an age when they can understand. Our Lord also teaches us about the respect we have to give the younger generation to help them to grow in the Love Of Christ and to Love One another as Our Saviour taught us, This being the case that we hope all of our children what ever colour or creed or back ground let them grow in the faith and love all the days of there life.
You will notice no matter where our Lord goes a great many children always followed him. We read in
( Matthews Gospel Chapter 18 v 1 - 6 )
At the same time the disciples came unto Jesus saying, " Who is the greatest in Heaven ? And Jesus called a little child unto him and set him in the midst of them, And said " Verily I say unto you, Except Ye and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, It would be better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Our Lord continues in verses 7 - 10 That hese children are of great importance in the respect that they are indeed the Worlds FUTURE. Indeed in Verse 10 says quite clearly " Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of My Father which is Heaven ".
The one thing that Our Lord Jesus did never do was DISCRIMINATE against any one including children. Indeed we read in
( St Luke Chapter 8 v 49 - 56 )
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the Synagogue`s house saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the master. Jesus could have so easerly said to Jairus " Sorry not healing children today come back tomorrow " But instead of that he said and I continue in verse 50 But when Jesus heard it he answered him saying, Fear not: believe only that SHE BE MADE WHOLE. This of cause is a very well know story and is preached to congregations the World over, and will continue to be taught.
We must now bring all this in to context of the world that we know today now this is the year 2001. This is also as Pauline now reminds me is the 21st Century 2000 years Since Our Lord Jesus Walked this Earth. Todays Children will be here when we the Adults are long gone, Many of them will turn out to be tomorrows World leaders, As they are as we know are very intelegent indeed some I think could be classed as gifted. And this being the case These gifted children there gifts to this World, Our World now is after all Their Tomorrow. We therefore must leave this world in some decent state for these Children to inherit. Are you as prepared as you think to take on the responsibility of looking after Gods work { This Earth That You Live On }? If you can say yes then surely You are one of Gods Children and will go to be with him on the last day. But if on the other hand you are un sure or even if you have to say that you are not prepared to this Challenge upon your self. Remember Friends This is your future that we are talking about not ours ( We the adults ) as I have said above we will be long gone The Future is therefore yours. Please look after it For the sake of those who will after all come after you.
